Transverse engine, integrated with the transmission and differential as a compact unit. Cast iron cylinder blocl<. Light alloy, cross-flow cylinder head. Dome-shaped combustion chambers with centrally placed spark plugs. Hydraulic, maintenance-free valve depressors. Four valves per cylinder. Electric motor-driven, thermostatically controlled radiator fan. Three-way catalytic converter and Lambda-sensor. Double overhead, chain-driven camshafts. Two balancer shafts. Saab Trionic system that monitors and controls fuel injection, ignition (Saab DI) and turbo boost pressure. Turbocharger with water-cooled bearing housing and integrated waste gate (boost pressure control valve). lntercooler Engine oil cooler.

Double overhead, chain-driven camshafts. Hydraulic, maintenance-free valve depressors. Four valves per cylinder. Two balancing shafts equipped with eccentrically mounted balancing weights. Saab Trionic system that monitors and controls fuel injection, ignition (Saab DI) and turbo boost pressure. Light pressure turbocharger with water-cooled bearing housing and integrated waste gate (boost pressure control valve). Intercooler. Engine oil cooler. Cooling system with electric motor-driven, thermostatically controlled radiator fan.
