This
Polaris Racing acquisition started life as a 1981 911 Turbo and has
been modified extensively over the years.
The
GT2-influenced car boasts a 3,300cc Porsche flat 6 all-alloy engine
with a single Garrett turbocharger, twin plug heads, single injectors,
twin wastegates, twin fuel pumps, racing intercooler and runs with
Zytek engine management producing 500 bhp at 1 bar (and capable of up
to 600 bhp for the very brave.)
Transmission
consists of a 930 4 speed gearbox together with a 935 clutch and a
Quaife limited slip diff. The Porsche's braking is provided by AP 6
pots, AP 380 at the front and AP 350 at the rear with twin master
cylinders and adjustable bias. Coil over damper suspension is fitted
all round with Spax GP dampers and solid bushing.
A 90 litre foam
filled tank is included together with a substantial welded cage,
Kevlar racing seat with full harness and fire extinguisher system. To
keep the car as light as possible a 993/GT2 Kevlar body kit is
incorporated, resulting in a weight of 1050 kg excluding driver.
For 2002, a
fivespeed gearbox will be fitted to assist with the cars off the line
performance.
