Hi....My Name is Greg, (Mike, John, depending on which frequency you spoke to me on over the last twenty or so years) and I live in the City of Melbourne. I am not a Ham as I failed the FULL Call theory exam by 1 point 3 TIMES!! Of course this was after I was Busted by Goldie with the Uniden 2020 on 11 Mtrs. Most unusual as I repaired radios of my friends who got through.Probably just as well as I like to have the good gear, and if I was a full call it would cost me a fortune to buy what I wanted.
I am not, nor ever will be, a member of the Always Talking group. (AT-WANK)
</font>Although I am known as Number FIVE of the Alpha Xray International Syndicate.
I was also known WORLD WIDE as the heard of me. YES, I did get my official CBRS DOC Licence from Richmond half an hour after the doors opened on the first day. I held onto the same VCE number till they cancelled the requirement to renew licences. Whats more I paid through the nose for the privilege as I had four sets registered. What did I ever get for the MANY HUNDREDS of $ I paid?

This could get pretty boring if you dont have RF flowing through your veins, but what the hell, so is sitting on the call channel or repeaters, listening to the GoodBudies, Deviants, Malcontents and out and out Psycho's jamming it with garbage.Click for DX
Hey if you dont know what I mean then go listen (look?) to some IRC channels where its starting to degenerate just like Citizens Band did after the initial novelty wore off!!(Remember?) People can be jerks when they are anonamous. Speaking of which, Click the Satelite dish to enter the RadioActive DX Site.

1975 - NIDDRIE

  • UNIDEN 2020, HF

  • UNIDEN AUX TUNER,

  • UNIDEN Speaker, Modified with built in car Graphic Equaliser.

  • YAESU FC 901 Antenna Tuner

  • FANON COURIER SPARTAN 40 + 400 Ch HF CB

My first HF Amateur rig, the UNIDEN 2020. This had the 27 MHz Band a standard fitment relating back to the days when Hams had 11 Mtrs.A magnificent rig to operate that had many features over the equivalent YAESU 501. I actually owned about three of them over the years and lost one to Goldie as he walked in the door with me DX'ing on 11 Mtrs.I never had any problems with them as others were reported to have so maybe I was just lucky or kept my fingers out of them. ( Thanks Ian, Black Widow - AX17.)
The SPARTAN I had was the first one in Australia, privately imported by FORD Motor Co. for evaluation for fitment to Luisville trucks. I forget how I ended up with it, but it was way ahead of anything then available in Aust. With an 858 Phase Locked Loop (PLL), and me working as an elect. engineer it wasn't long before I had figured out the BCD code and fitted thumbwheels long before anyone else had thought of it.( If I cant blow my own trumpet on my own page, whats the use of having it?). Pumping out a good 20Watts it killed anything for DX with a 9' Stainless. Stepping in 5Kcs across the 11Mtr Band made evading the buddies easy, and contacting over 70 Countries a lot of fun..
