My First car,
modified over a few years while
I was in the RAAF. Bought it in 1968 only 4 years old and ready to FLY.
By 1970 and the release of the Ford GT-HO taxis' I had it cooking with
twin 4bbls and 258 ci. after complete rebuild.
It was great at the Calder Drags on TV
beating the new Ford GT HO's as I was on the edge of 13's and they could not believe an old
Valiant 225 six was blowing them away.
Imagine what it would do with a
TURBO!
The RAAF boys and the toys in 1970.
Hi LES, hows the brick
still going?
Quickest recorded time was 14.02sec 1320' @ 100Mph. but I am sure it went quicker or
the Ford GTHO's were going slower than they seemed.
With the suspension done and 8's and 9's
on the back we out ran a Porsche 911 out the Geelong freeway past Brooklyn and Laverton
doing over 120 Mph PLUS through the curves. (YOUNG&STUPID) Eventually sold it and
bought the Rambler Hornet.
