With the AMC 390ci V8
screaming, the virtual custom open exhaust
announced the arrival of the red rocket blasting
up the mountain under Ray's expert control.

The American Motors
Corporation AMX was built in the USA but sent to
Australia in CKD to be assembled in Port Melbourne
in the late sixties.
As such the AMX
is the only real US Muscle Car to be produced and
sold in Australia. Its larger brother the Javelin
was also assembled and sold here for a few years
but was not in the same performance category.

Some of the not so
insignificant competition, though nothing sounded
as spine tingling as the AMX thundering up the
mountain.
Even though he
always places well I think he probably
concentrates more on enjoying himself than
actually trying to win anything;-)
Awaiting patiently among the other unsuspecting
competitors, the AMX looks like it may go faster
than them with its "Big Bad Orange" Paint job and
twin factory racing stripes.
Later
on its proved to be the case as Ray carves up the
hillside with the thunderous roar of the custom
exhaust frightening the local wildlife and
scattering startled birds into the sky. The
screech of the tyres being tortured though the
many hairy corners is what Ray looks forward to
all year!
